The Race (10-14 years)
| 84 minutes + 45 minutes workshop THE RACE tells the story about an Irish farming family collapsing while 11 year old daughter Mary is trying to make her dream come true: driving a go-kart and winning a race. The film deals with topics such as self-assertion and –realisation, family structures and gendered roles in society, prejudice etc. It thus proves an excellent resource for the classroom and the workshop will offer room for debate and discussion with the help of several worksheets concerning the topics. |

Sounds Like Teen Spirit (14 +)
| 100 minutes + 45 minutes workshop Jamie Jay Johnson’s debut feature documentary SOUNDS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT takes the viewer behind the scenes of Europe’s biggest child song-writing contest. This funny and charming behind-the-scenes documentary follows four of the 17 contestants on their way to the finals of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam 2007, where they perform their self-composed songs in their national language. The workshop accompanying the film introduces a range of themes to discuss, e.g. the current ‘cult of celebrity’, what is ambition and how do we define and achieve our goals, embracing winning and handling losing etc. |

The Young Victoria (14 +)
| 105 minutes + 45 minutes workshop Coming to the throne in 1837 at the young age of eighteen, Queen Victoria finds herself in the middle of a chess game of politics and power. Resolutely independent but inexperienced with facing an over-whelming amount of decisions, the young Queen must quickly learn whom can be trusted out of all those clamouring around. The accompanying workshop will introduce the themes of English history and culture, the role of the monarchy, developing independence and self-assertion, family relationships and loyalty, meeting expectations and resisting convention, and gendered roles in society. |

Short films
Shorts 1: CHANGES (10-14 years)
| 45 minutes + 45 minutes workshop “Changes” is concerned with the transitions young people often face when growing up and how they cope with them. The films deal with topics such as fears, inadequacy, rassism, new kid in school, friendship, misfits and family. The students are encouraged to consider the different characters portrayed in the short-films and will have the opportunity to compare the characters’ situations to their own experiences throughout the discussion. |

Shorts 2: Everyday Heroes (14-18 years)
| 47 minutes + 45 minutes workshop “Everyday Heroes” revolves around the topic of heroes and champions. The films deal in various ways with friendship, shame, sexuality, family, responsibilty etc. The workshop aims to lead the students to their own definition of a hero and heroic behaviour. |

Shorts 3: Departures (18+)
| 45 minutes + 45 minutes workshop The third workshop addresses the topic of departures, and the representation of departing or leaving in the different contexts portrayed in each film. The short films focus on topics such as generation gap, loneliness, coping with illness, death, coincidence etc. The film programme and workshop are tailor-made for older students (18+). |
