‘School of Life-expanded’ is a unique cultural programme for school children and teenagers that combines appropriate short films with educational workshops. School of Life-expanded introduces students to films from Britain and Ireland and aims to spark students’ curiosity and excitement about the world around them, whilst helping them to better understand the world they live in.

School of Life-expanded at Filmmuseum Potsdam:

From December 10 – 14, 2012 we present two short film programmes and two feature films for different age groups and English skills and workshop for each programme. Teachers can book the programmes for their school classes and one of our teachers will hold the screening and workshop at the Filmmuseum. All films will be screened in the original version (feature films with optional subtitles) and our teachers will provide the workshop material and handouts.

For more information please click here and contact Birgit Acar:

Our Goals:

The films chosen for the School of Life-expanded programmes enable students to take a closer look at everyday life in British and Irish culture. For many, this will be their first experience of British and Irish culture outside of their formal language lessons. The workshops integrate the socially relevant topics depicted in the films into the subsequent discussions. All films are in the English language and are tailored to the appropriate age groups of the children and their language abilities. School of Life workshops make British and Irish culture more accessible to the students of Berlin, whilst simultaneously enabling students to discuss issues and experiences that are universal to all young people.
